Smile Please Read: The Disney movie Ice Princess

Hello everyone,
Most of you ice skaters on this site have seen the movie Ice Princess. What I am upset about is that everyone thinks now that you can learn a triple axel in 2 months. The actors on the movie just learned to skate and had add-ins do those jumps. Most of the non-skaters thought that they actually were doing the jumps.
The leaping Dwarf on the movie can actually skate (I have met her she lives near me and is doing a show in New Ulm Minnesota last Friday) but they didn't have her doing the jumps either because they are dangerous.

Anyone in the skating world should know that no-one not even michelle kwan could learn a triple axle when they first starded skating in the time that the actors said that they learned.

Hope you learned something,
Shauna

Yeah i agree, The movie is good but is unrealistic. The tests are not llike that and the jumps take alot more effort and time.

haha I just got done watching this movie and agree. The jumps take a LOT of work and mastery compared to how they are portrayed. Also it made me laugh at how the "recital" was how they tested! lol!

Yes i agree its very unrealisitc and makes people think what we do isnt as hard as it seems which of course it is.

But I have recently seen a worse programme on the TV here in the UK... Its a comedy about ice skating and the way you have some pushy parents and coaches and it makes skating out to be a bitchy sport, ok so it can be but this programme makes it out to seem like every1 in skating is a bad person.

yeah i know wat u mean. If someone without ice skating knowledge watches the film they will assume the skaters are doing the jumps and will assume ice skating must be easy.

anyway have u seen any other ice skating films? i've seen cutting edge, mystery alaska (and another 1 that i cant remember what it is called).
