Volume 1 - Volume 2 - Volume 3

Volume 1

Magic of Style - Vol. 1
by Ann-Margreth Frei

This is the first of a projected series of one-hour training videos, teaching step-by-step how to improve the style and appearance of skaters of all ages and levels.

Ann-Margreth Frei was Swedish National Champion, a World and Olympic competitor, and a star of Ice Capades and Holiday on Ice for sixteen years. She now conducts seminars both here and abroad and is PSGA Master Rated in choreography and style. She is based in Vail, Colorado, and this video was filmed there in the Dobson Ice Arena.

Volume 2

Magic of Style - Vol. 2
by Ann-Margreth Frei

Works on developing flexibility and strength for the skating athlete with 25 variations in spirals, extensions, butterflies, super split jump techniques, stretching and warm-up.

In Volume 2, Ann-Margreth once more makes a great case for the Magic of Style. The tape itself is the best example of what is required. The music is lovely and carefully chosen (the opinion of a small dog notwithstanding), and the clothes are well selected. Slow motion is very well used, and photographically it is as good as if not better than Volume 1. The approach to much of the material is quite scholarly, but never boring, and as she says, learning never ends.

A new group of skaters demonstrate in Volume II, including a remarkable lady of 67, two young women of about 18, and a young man of about 12. As with the first volume, the selection of skaters makes for a strong identification on the part of viewers of a broad spectrum of ages and levels.

Volume 3

Magic of Style - Vol. 3
by Ann-Margreth Frei

Develop easy to intricate footwork-connecting steps and moves in the field. 120 exercises

Volume 3 of this series deals entirely with Moves in the Field, connecting steps and footwork. Because of the nature of the material, there is no off-ice work at all, but slow-motion views of maneuvers and close-up photography of the skaters feet are generously used. The Moves in the Field sections are excellent in themselves and comprehensive enough that they can be isolated as a separate training section.

It is a good idea to refer to Volume 1 and 2 for general information on warm-up and conditioning exercises because of the very large amount of material covered here, and the use of the manual is essential to the thorough understanding of the tape.

The above three videos (Magic of Style vols. 1, 2 and 3) are available as a set for a discounted price.

Spectator's Video Guide
to Figure Skating

Spectator's Guide to Skating - by Ann-Margreth Frei

The Spectators Guide will show you how to easily identify jumps, spins, lifts, ice dancing and what the judges are really looking for in World and Olympic competitions. This is a very popular video.

The Olympics is just around the corner -- order today! Figure skating is now the second most watched sport on television, and currently gets more press coverage than even five years ago. However, the Spectator's Guide is a welcome and much needed addition to the material available to the public.

There is no other readily available source of information that is as attractive and comprehensive as this.
